COMPUTER LITERACY FOR THE DISABLED: NEWS

The beneficiaries are now applying the skills, where each and every one of them is working in their respective shops. The beneficiaries are now able to realise a minimum of N500 every day.
The beneficiaries are serving the community and the money generated from the business is handled by the beneficiaries (each one handles his/her money) for self-sustainability.
Most organisations now needs computer literate in order to ease their offices work. Hence, the beneficiaries now have the opportunity to seek for jobs or set-up their own business e.g. business centre etc. That will really contribute for the development of the society by boosting their socio-economy.

After the training all the beneficiaries were equipped with a set of desktop computer system to set-up a business (Computer Business Centre) in there respective locations.
The project attracts a lot of people in the community during commissioning the program after the beneficiaries are trained and equipped with computer systems for self-sustainability.

LI-CGLAO is partnering with Bauchi State Agricultural Development Program (BSADP). The computer training for BSADP is part of LI-CGLAO's contribution to the organisation in order to upgrade the staffs capacity, easing their office work load and helping the organisation in keeping its records; it also helps in quick search of files/information and research in agric and agric related knowledge when needed by the organisation.
LI-CGLAO will equip each beneficiary who undergoes the training with a laptop computer system, which is about US$16,000.
The project touched people's lives in Birshi community in many ways; this is because the project has reduced the number of people with vitamin B deficiency and also boosts the socio-economic and agricultural activities of the community.

CYDI selected about 20 physically challenge persons from the community who will be trained on how to operate a computer system. The idea was brought by LI-CGLAO student staffs in order to improve the capability of physically challenged person in the society.
The beneficiaries were trained by LI-CGLAO student staffs on the basic concept of a computer operation e.g. Computer Fundamentals, Windows, Microsoft Office applications.

LI-CGLAO staffs were introduced to CYDI by LI-CGLAO student staffs; several meetings were held with the organisation to discuss about the ways of improving the life of physically challenged person (people with disability) one of which is computer training skill, which ignite the attention and the interest of the organisation (CYDI).

LI-CGLAO student staffs located Challenge Your Disability Initiatives (CYDI) and choose as one of its project site; the students discovered CYDI as an organisation that assists physically challenged person (people with disability). The students came up with the idea of computer training program for the physically challenged person, which may light their hidden potential and open many doors of opportunities.
